We all have enormous power to change our health status. We can prevent disease, slow the rate of aging, increase our energy level, and promote natural weight control.
And we can enjoy the journey.
Lisa Carlson
Health Coach Founder
As a thirty year veteran of the wellness industry Lisa holds advanced certifications in Exercise for Special Populations and Medical Exercise through both the Cooper Institute and the American Academy of Health Fitness and Rehabilitation Professionals.
Lisa's greatest education came in 1999 in the form of her husband Blair's diagnosis of terminal cancer and the prognosis of four weeks left to live. The family became devoted to adopting a plant based diet and maintaining exercise throughout the disease stages of cancer. Blair surpassed the expectations of his oncologists and the family enjoyed a vibrant, life-filled year before this incurable form of cancer finally took his life. The powerful lesson that diet and lifestyle dramatically promote quality of life led Lisa to further her education in nutrition.
Devoted to learning more about the connection between lifestyle and disease prevention, she became certified as a Cancer Wellness Specialist through the Medical Fitness Association. To further her health coaching and culinary skills, Lisa graduated the United States Personal Chef Institute and achieved certification through Cooper Institute's Coaching Healthy Behaviors Program, and Cornell University's Plant Based Nutrition Certification program.
In her free time, Lisa can be found in the wooded gardens she creates, or in her kitchen, designing new functional foods for Health Coach Programs. She is married to Larry and is mom to Lacy, Ben, Blake and grandson, Connor.
Linda Brisbon
Program Development, Corrective Exercise Specialist
A strong belief in the importance of nutrition and exercise in preventing disease and the promotion of healthy aging has led to Linda's passion for science based programming.
As co-owner, Linda has been instrumental in turning the science of disease prevention into the artistic images which accompany Health Coach's educational programs. Her passion for creating image-oriented health education gives participants the visual tools needed to begin to understand the intricate processes of disease in order to inspire the need for change. Linda's award winning, step-by-step depictions of the internal health systems and the major disease processes have often been cited as a catalyst for change by program participants. For those who are diagnosed with diabetes or heart disease, her role in graphically depicting the disease process has been vital to taking the first steps to action.
A National Academy of Sports Medicine certified trainer, Linda is also Health Coach's lead medical exercise specialist. Continuous education and credentials have gone hand in hand with twenty one years experience in the medical exercise and wellness fields.
Linda enjoys photography and gardening in her spare time. She has been married to Eric for thirty one years and is the mother of Scott and Eric Paul Brisbon.
As long as I can remember I have always been involved in exercise. The credit for that goes to my parents for which I'm grateful. As a kid I can remember endless days in the pool or riding my bike and playing kick the can until dark. I didn't know it then but exercise was becoming a healthy habit as part of my daily life. My day is empty without it.
I have tried many sports. Competitive bodybuilding, competitve swimming and now find myself participating regularly in triathlons. I have been bitten by the Triathlon Bug.
I have developed a keen understanding of the importance of cardiovascular training. As a Personal Trainer I incorporate cardio training along with strength training. Functional and core training and improving balance are essential for our hectic everday lives. My philosophy is train my clients as I train myself. I can't expect my clients to do a particular exercise I can't do myself. Train hard, train fast, train smart.
